On Saturday, September 12 2009, seven members of the East Iowa Cadet Squadron (EICS) Civil Air Patrol participated in a Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) in Clinton IA. In total, over 85 CAP personnel from Iowa and Missouri participated in the event.  SAREX's, such as the one held in Clinton, allow Civil Air Patrol members to practice their emergency services skills. The skills are used when the Civil Air Patrol is called upon to perform real missions, such as searches for Missing Persons, Aircraft, and Emergency Locator Transmitters and Aerial Photography for Homeland Security, FEMA, and local Emergency Managers . Additionally, CAP members provide Mission Staff, Flight Line Operations, and Mission Communications in support of the CAP mission activities.
